Taste of Mexico Party + Cuirim Shoeboxes
December 13, 2020 @ 11:45 am - 12:45 pm
Free
Brian + Kirsten Donohue are hosting a scaled back version of our Grace Cuirim Shoebox Night called the Taste of Mexico Party. What is this event? It includes 2 parts, a space for you and your family to create and fill your $10 Cuirim Shoeboxes AND a light appetizer/lunch meal.
Cuirim Christmas Shoebox
A Cuirim Shoebox is a Christmas box filled, decorated and sent for children of Mexico, many whom have never experienced Christmas! If you choose to make a Cuirim Shoebox, it will likely be going to Navajoa, roughly eight hours south of the Cuirim Outreach Center in Nogales Mexico.
If you are interested in creating and sending a box, you can find them outside the lobby on Sundays from 11am-12pm or at the church office during office hours, Tues-Fri, ~9am-3:30pm. Each box is $10 to cover the cost of shipping each box from the east coast of Arizona, across the border and down to Navajoa.
When you pick up a box, it’ll come with instructions. If you need to view those instructions digitally, you can find them by clicking the button. If you need to pay for a Shoebox ($10 each) or want to make a donation to Cuirim Outreach, you can use the button here to access Cuirim Outreach’s Venmo.
The deadline to return your shoebox to Grace is December 27, Sunday morning. Any box returned after this time will be held to be sent next year.
Taste of Mexico Party
The Taste of Mexico Party is scaled back version of past Cuirim Shoebox Nights we’ve done in the past. On December 13 from 11:45am-12:45pm right after the outdoor service near the firepit behind the Grace building, Cuirim Outreach will setup a space to decorate (decorations provided) and fill (with your own items) any Cuirim Christmas Box you have + will serve a light appetizer lunch.
Lunch will include ground turkey tacos and chicken tinga and will be served safely with all individuals wearing masks and gloves. If you’d like to help pay for the cost of the food, a donation basket will be available at the party.
If you would like to attend, please sign up by RSVPing below letting us know your family name and # attending.
Also, the Donohues are looking for 4 people to make a crockpot of chicken tinga and 4 people to make a crockpot of ground turkey taco meat, each enough to feed 15-20 people. Cuirim will reimburse for all food costs. If you’d be willing to do this, choose that RSVP option.
If you need a tinga recipe, email Kirsten at claytreasure@gmail.com.
