Some groups will meet indoors, outdoors, require purchasing a book or a fee to purchase materials for art, gardening, etc. View the various groups below and if you’d like to attend, use the email listed to contact the leader.
God the Artist Series // Starting sept 26
Leaders: Jen Mancier, Adara Wright, Joy Morykon, Kirsten Donohue and Jenna Sosa
This fall, several artists from the Grace body will be leading an exploration of prayer and artistic expression. We will follow the theme of ACTS: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. Over the course of 8 weeks, we will create together, listen to the Lord, and pray while we create visual expressions of the inner work the Lord is leading us through.
Come join us for this Around the Table Gathering beginning September 26. $10 fee for materials. You don’t need to be an artist to join this group. Each of us was made in the image of our God who is the Creator and we can all learn to respond to Him with beauty. Men and women are invited to participate. Email Kirsten at kdonohue@graceefc.net.
God the Creator
Leaders: Carole Stone
The beauty of a sunset, the majesty of the ocean, the wonder of a newborn baby – God’s glorious creation is all around us. And we ourselves are part of that creation! Everything we can see, and everything we can’t see – it all came from God.” This will be a time of seeing how God’s creation weaves its way through our days and seasons of life.
We will have hands on fun with no cost and meeting every other Sunday starting with September 19th. We will use the Bible as our text and all of nature as our source of inspiration! Contact Carole to join at veedubbin7@yahoo.com or (434) 665-9722.
Jesus the Carpenter and His Design For Your Mansion
Leaders: Phil Germeroth
Was Jesus indeed a Carpenter? If so then what would He have built as a carpenter in First century Israel? What kind of tools and materials were available? Why did God choose to be a carpenter? Jesus spent most of His earthly life in His first vocation. How did straining His muscles from lifting heavy loads, nursing calloused, cracked, splinter ridden, purple fingernail hands prepare Him for His public ministry?
During our nine week study, we will focus on Jesus from a different angle. We will discover rich spiritual truths from the Master’s trade and His design for YOUR mansion! For ladies and gentlemen, from High school age and older. Contact Phil Germeroth at 434-610-6450 or PJGermeroth@verizon.net.
Love Your Neighbor
Leaders: Jimmy Kirshberger
Are you wanting to become more involved in the lives of your neighbors? Come discuss how to invite the Holy Spirit into your interactions with your neighbors, how to live openly as disciples of Jesus, and how to obey the two great commandments to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. Email Jimmy at jimmykirsh@gmail.com.
Praying With Focus
Leaders: Jim and Shelley Scranton
Every week except on Communion Sundays, Oct 03 and Nov 07
“These are the times that tries men’s souls.” These words were penned by Thomas Paine at the time when the American Colonies sought independence from the tyranny of the British.
These words are apt to the unrest that we are experiencing in our nation and our world today. There is rampant fear, divisiveness, immorality, deception and lies spreading. As believers, what are we to do?
We are instructed to put on the Full Armor of God not only for our protection from the spiritual forces of wickedness, but also to stand up and pray for others, for our church, for our leaders, and for those throughout the nation and the world.
Therefore, let’s put on the Full Armor of God and “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” (Ephesians 6:18)
Come and join us as we pray for our local body at Grace and also pray for current world events and the global church. We will alternate weeks—praying locally one week and globally the next.
Come and enlist as a prayer warrior! Email Jim or Shelley to join at: jhscranton@aol.com and bajashell@gmail.com.
